Skye’s Bio

Like most kids, following mum around the kitchen as she baked and waiting for the opportunity to lick the bowl afterwards, was Skye’s first motivation for cooking sweets. These days things haven’t changed too much and Skye’s warmth, infectious smile and desserts to die for saw her become a much loved household name after her 6 months of hard work on the second series of ratings juggernaut MasterChef Series 2. Her great passion for culinary adventures and years working as a graphic designer paid off as Australia watched her create stunning sweets made with creativity and flair.

Since her time on MasterChef where she became known as the dessert queen, Skye has delighted Australia with her dessert business Wild Sugar. Skye’s philosophy is all about creating balance with the way you eat. So of course it’s all about indulgence with gorgeous naughty desserts for sure (they are essential at times!), however if we learn how to create healthier desserts which you see in the “Health Nut” chapter of her first book Wild Sugar Desserts, you can spoil yourself more often. These are stunning sweets using low GI sugar substitutes such as fruit and healthier ingredients to take care of your taste buds while you take care of your body.

Her desserts are a celebration of the naughty gene that lives within all of us. She is also passionate about creating balance by treating and nurturing in ways that serve us well. From recipes made from healthy ingredients to gratifying chocolate laden desserts, you’ll find a sweet treat from Wild Sugar Desserts to put a smile on your face. The dessert queen loves to share her desserts as she attends personal and tv appearances including The Circle, Mornings on Nine, The Morning Show Channel 7, Everyday Gourmet and is incredibly excited to share her stunning first book Wild Sugar Desserts. Skye’s sweets are a leaping treasure trove of pleasures, so dig in and enjoy. Life is a wild ride. Sweets remind us to smile.

    Hi Skye,
We live in Falkirk, Stirlingshire, Scotland and Masterchef has just broadcast the pressure test and you were eliminated. We are all devastated. You are too good to go out just like that. I just could not stop crying and my wife said ‘Well, You are 58 and we’ve been married 38 years mmm. There are always surprises in life’.
I Goggled ‘Wild Sugar’ and found you.
GO FOR IT GIRL. You made stunning dishes at every turn so I hope the folks in Brisbane appreciate just what you are giving them?
We know you will make a big success in anything you do, its lots of hard work but the pleasure comes from satisfied customers.
REMEMBER you have a family so PLEASE make time for them and time for you too.
The Best of Wishes from Scotland,
    Speak to you soon,

    S. MacD.

  13. skye says:

Hi Chloe and Sami, Many of us are still in contact and great friends. I have friends for life in quite a few of the contestants. I often speak to and spend time with Adele, Alvin, Sharnee, Claire and Devon. Many of the others I get to talk to or do an event with sporadically.. they are all lovely lil chickens!!! We also get to go and help miss Adele from Masterchef with her charity. in fact i just arrived back in Brisbane from Adelaide where she lives. Alvin, Jonno, Claire, Marion, Adele and I gave our time for free to do Adele’s charity for special needs kids at a wonderful vineyard called Bird In Hand in the Adelaide Hills just last weekend. What a pleasure it was seeing everyone and all for a good cause. Jonno was absolutely hilarious!!!! as was Alvin :) Thank you so very much for taking the time to jump onto my website and to say hi!!!! I am blown away. Warm wishes to you both x Skye

  14. skye says:

Hi Katy, thanks so much for the warm wishes. Yes it has been a huge step closing down my graphic design business and creating this new one. It is just the best though. Food, creativity, health, art and design… all in one business. i am so grateful. sending you warmth and smiles for miles Katy x Skye

  15. sam says:

skye please please make your own cook book, it would be really cool and im sure all mastershef viewers would buy them :)

  16. Sheila Sivanand says:

Masterchef Australia season 2 is currently being telecast on Star world in India. I am addicted. Unfortunately I peeked at the results and I know who won. You and Marion were my absolute favourites, Skye. So original, so creative. I love the way you presented things like art and I hope some day Wild Sugar opens an outlet in India. Thanks to you I look at ingredients in a different way.

  17. skye says:

Hi Sam, I am working on recipes etc as we speak. Writing a cook book is a goal of mine… we’ll see what I can whip up!!! Thanks and warm wishes x Skye

Hello Sheila, thanks for your message. I hope you are having some fun over there. Isn’t Marion an inspiration. She is so busy over here… and she absolutely deserves it. I think creativity is just so much fun when you let it just do it’s thing. So often for me when i cook, the food just wants to do it’s thing. When the produce is really good, i just like to accentuate what is already there… let the food speak to you in a way. Keep cooking with love x Skye

  18. Raida says:

    Hey Skye! :D

I’m from Bangladesh and Master Chef s2 is airing on cable now and I just saw the episode where you had to go! I was so sad and then I saw this page! :D I would come to Australia to just eat your food! Love your desserts! :D :D

  19. Riti says:

    Hi Skye !
I am following Masterchef season 2 regularly for the last months it’s been airing on TV here, in India. Saw the episode wherein you left the show just last night. You were one of my faves and I wish you all the best with your new sweet venture ! :)

  21. Tanuja says:

    Hello Skye,

I’m Tanuja from Sri Lanka. I am a big fan of Masterchef Australia and a very big fan of you. I just love the way you create when you cook. You just turn any normal dish in to beuaty and I’m sure it taste’s good too.
I was so sad when you had to leave, I actually could’n stop crying.
May Jesus be with you and guide you always and give you strength. “Jesus Loves You”.

  22. Dave T says:

Hi Skye – I have been watching the Masterchef series in Romsey, England with my 6 year old daughter who loves it. We are both gutted that you were eliminated as we thought you were a definite top 3 (we have been desperately trying to avoid finding out who won!).
We are pleased that you are taking it forward and wish you well in the new business and with your partner.
If we make it over to Oz, we will definitely call in!
    Best wishes from us. XX

  23. Anirudh says:

O.M.G! I don believe I’m actually communicating with you. It is such a pleasure watching you do your desserts with such an enthu and excitement and no wonder you’re here now where you wanted to be, thnx to MasterChef Australia. I am from India and always wanted to come one day to Australia very soon to see you. I thus planned to do my post-grad at Australia starting later next year. Thnx a lot for being what you are! Keep it goin, Keep it SWEET! :-)

  24. Sheila says:

Thank you for replying Skye. I do wish you would open a Wild Sugar outlet in London since I go there every spring. Brisbane is simply too far.
You’re welcome to India any time, though I doubt I’ll ever get to meet you in the stampede. You’re already quite a star in culinary circles here. Practically all our Indian herbs and spices seem to be available in Australia. Desolate that it’s silly garam masala that got you eliminated much too early. The programme would have been miles more fun to watch if you’d stayed on. Every dessert was straight out of a fairy tale.
I’m also in awe of the quality of your Australian produce. Everything just gleams with freshness.

  25. Chloe says:

  28. Upasna says:

Hi Skye, this is Upasna from India. The show is on air here in India at the moment, and i absolutely love it! In today’s episode, the 3 wild card entrants came back in the competition.

It was heart-breaking to see you eliminated from the show. It was just plain unfortunate that you weren’t quite your 100%, in terms of health, in that taste test against Jonno. I hated the Indian ‘Garam Masala’ in that moment! The Hollandaise sauce was looking gorgeous when you were cooking it, how sad that it split at the last minute :(

My best wishes are with WILD SUGAR. It’s a lovely name, btw! Good luck with the cookbook too! Rock on!!

Lots of love to you Skye. Come to India!! We love you! :*

  29. MK says:

    YOUR WRITING A COOK BOOK?????

    Hiya Skye,

Wow, 17th of February and just now did I discover Masterchef Australia and the talents that everybody showed. The series is airing in the Netherlands at the moment and you are still in the competition.
The dessert you plated up in The Press Club Challenge was absolutely gorgeous and beautiful. Come to think of it… there aren’t many dishes that I dislike that you’ve presented in the competition up to this point.
Still rooting for you, although I know the inevitable ;)
I’m sure Australia is one of my destinations in the future… I will definitely try to visit an event hosted by you.

Keep on sugaring wildy and all the best.
